September 2020: Six new computer classes successfully installed!

Fund Isaan, sponsored by VZW Thaise Vrienden Wevelgem and Deloitte Southeast Asia (SEA), successfully installed six new computer classrooms between 8-11 of September, 2020!

Due to the CoronaVirus (COVID-19) we had to completely change our approach, since we could not fly in volunteers from Belgium. The testing and software installations and activation were done in Belgium by our Belgian IT volunteers, Klaas and Gino (thank you guys). After which the computers were shipped from Belgium to Thailand. Upon receipt we tested all the devices again and made arrangements with the schools on when to install the classes. By lack of volunteers we called upon the help of a company called Procom based in Surin to help us with the actual set up of the classes. In four days we installed  six classes without any major problems.

All computers, including hardware, software (Microsoft Windows, Edge, Office, our own education software), LAN connection and a printer were all tested and verified to be fully functional before formally handing over to the school. We also provided a basic training to the teachers responsible for the new classes.

More than 2,800 students from six different schools in four districts of the Surin province will be benefiting greatly from our computer classes:

  1. Sangkha Industrial and Community Education College;
  2. Ban Puangtuek School;
  3. Ban Kadad School;
  4. Ban Tataew School;
  5. Matthayom Jaraphat Witthaya School;
  6. Lam Phlapphla Witthayakarn School.

As always we emphasized to teachers and students the importance of technology in daily life, much in line with the Thailand 4.0 initiative from the Thai government.We highly appreciated the friendly and warmest welcome by students, teachers, directors, school committees, the community and others.

Special thanks to our sponsors VZW Thaise Vrienden Wevelgem and Deloitte Southeast Asia (SEA) for their support. Also thanks to the Procom Surin for their time and dedication.

You all made our Fund Isaan Classroom Project 2020 a big success!
